Databases & Info Managment (Q1 - Session 5)


A database management system (DBMS) is a specific type of software for creatin, storing, organizing and accessing data from a database. A DBMS consists of software that permits centralization of data and data needs. A single databse services multiple applications. The most important feature of the DBMS is its ability to separate the logicl and physical views of data. The user words with a logical view of data, the DBMS retrieves information so that the user does not have to concerned with its physical location.

Microsoft Access is one of the example of DBMS. It can divide the information ito subject-based tables, helps to join the information in the tables together as needed, helps support and ensure the accuracy and integrity of your information, and accommodates the data processing and reporting needs.

Even through the small database, we can also divid the information into subject-base. By clicking the the "Sorting" button, we can sort /find the information by our preference. We can also default the column into specific type. For example, data, amount and words, etc.



It can also help to accommodates the data processing and reporting. Just follow the step in the system, the report can generate automatically.

  1. You can also add that our small database has two tables - for Products and Suppliers. This shows that our data has been organized by Subject, because each table is only concerned with one subject.

    The foreign key "Supplier Number", which is common to both tables, allows us to link or comine related records from the two tables.
