Meet the Dead...line

When everyone are busy on the assignment 2. I still take my time to write blog. Haha ~ Although the assignment 1 had finalized and the marks had gave us already, but I still want to write down in here, as our IT Marketing course no finish yet.

I really feel tired this week, as keep contact with my team members continuously & discuss the project, do the project day & day to make it better. As I want to take more time to do the project, I had stay in office every lunch. And also, slept @ 2am to review & review the information in internet, make sure what I did is correct. It's a very hard moment, not only for me, as I know, but also for all my classmate. Everyone are try very hard to make their project better.

At this moment, our team had group up the ideas and generated a draft already, but we still need time to review and proof read it, hope we can finish it asap. I really look forward to see the final version of our group project. I'm not sure what will Jenny feel after viewing that, but really hope we can let her get a fresh & impressive feeling.

Databases & Info Managment (Q1 - Session 5)

A database management system (DBMS) is a specific type of software for creatin, storing, organizing and accessing data from a database. A DBMS consists of software that permits centralization of data and data needs. A single databse services multiple applications. The most important feature of the DBMS is its ability to separate the logicl and physical views of data. The user words with a logical view of data, the DBMS retrieves information so that the user does not have to concerned with its physical location.

Microsoft Access is one of the example of DBMS. It can divide the information ito subject-based tables, helps to join the information in the tables together as needed, helps support and ensure the accuracy and integrity of your information, and accommodates the data processing and reporting needs.

Even through the small database, we can also divid the information into subject-base. By clicking the the "Sorting" button, we can sort /find the information by our preference. We can also default the column into specific type. For example, data, amount and words, etc.



It can also help to accommodates the data processing and reporting. Just follow the step in the system, the report can generate automatically.

Internet Marketing (Q1 - Session 4)

The Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) is a well-known company in Hong Kong. They provide television entertainment services for the public, which included free and pay channel. They had spread their company information through the internet successfully. One of their most powerful check point is their own website: http://www.tvb.com/ .

The title of their website had named as tvb.com, which is same as their company name. In tvb.com, we can find may information about the company. The main page covered all useful title and with some attractive picture. The upper left hand corner will show the most popular programme, and also some plans or events that are under promotion. At the upper right hand corner, they will also point out which programme on air in their different channel.

For the lower left hand corner, there's the updated list for the artists blog. Once the artists updated their own blog, the update will show in there. There also a billboard for their artist.



At the bottom of the website, they provided several links for their different channels. People can visit the channels' own page by clicking the icon.


Through the website, you can see the schedule of each channel. The system will highlight the on air programme automatically for easier reference. The drama, movies, some reality programmes or special programmes will have a separate web pages. In the pages, it will show the introductions, chapters' descriptions, characters and background history, etc. It let the audiences understand more before watch the programme and attract people to watch the programme continuously.



Each artist in TVB will have their own blog, they can post everything in their blog. It could help the public, especially the fans to understand more of those artist. Some artists will post some news for which drama they are editing now, to attract more people to watch the drama. Here is one of the example for the blog, their General Manager, Mr. Stephen Chan, will update his own blog everyday.






For better communication, they had arrange a forum for the public. The forum had divided into different categories. People can post anything on the forum, whatever it is related to the TVB programme or not.










TVB concerned some people might missed their programme, therefore the tvb.com had created a new function called "My TV". It uploaded many programmes and let the public see it online for free. All the videos are very up-to-date. They had filed the videos into different types for better searching. Also, you can find which is the most popular and updated.


In the website, they provided a page for selling their products, mainly is the VCD, DVD and Blu-ray. There's another page for their TVB magazine, you can read that magazine online.


For better client services and internet marketing, they had cooperate with other media for different programme too. That included msn, Yahoo! and Youtube.



The Cable TV also one of the famous television company in Hong Kong, but their internet marketing is ineffective. Their website (http://www.cabletv.com.hk/) is very messy, some icons will overlapping on others.



The webpage is not user friendly too, each webpage will pop up another window and have to click several steps for each enquiry.



In their website, they just provide the information in wordings and basic graph. They can provide more information for their programmes.

The most important problem for the internet marketing is didn't provide a channel for the clients. There's no RSS, forum or discussion board in their website.

Sick ! !

I got a heavy flu after back from Beijing. The sickness really influence my daily life. As I always cough & better not to talk so much. Also, I always feel tired!!! That makes me cannot push myself too hard. It's very hard this week, as heavy workload in office, revision my studies, do my assignment, settle my family matter, and also need to practice my violin. The time will still run even I'm very sick. The doctor advised me to take a good rest, maybe he is right, but seem I didn't have time to do so at this moment.

Anyway, hopes the I can get well soon & no need to wear mask during the lesson.

CRM System (Q1 - Session 3)

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) become more & more important in the world. As a result, the CRM system produced. The CRM system is a system which captures and combines customer data from all over the organization, so it can be analyzd and results can be distributed to different people, system & touch points.

Especially for the airlines services, the CRM could help the airlines serve the customer more thoughtfully. Started at ticketing stage, through the CRM system, the staff could see all the information which related to the customer. Not only the client's basic informations, but also other special information of the client. For example, VIP class, mileage and payment method, etc. It will recorded the client's special request in the system, to better arrangement for the client. For examples, special food, disability assistance, elderly passengers, with children and pregnant, etc. It could also see the present & previous booking record through the system. Once the schedule confirmed, the airlines will issue the electronic tickets to the client. The client just need to present the e-tickets number in the airport and he/she can get the tickets before boarding.








The CRM system could also show how many miles did the cusomter get, so that the staff could advise the customer how to redeem the mileage. The staff could advise the customer to get more mileage and redeem the larger/better package or upgrade the upper class seat by mileage, this helps the staff can sell something further to the customer. Customer could also save the miles for further use or donate it to the charity.


When the customer arrived to the airport, he/she just need to provide the e-tickets number when check-in. Then the staff will issue the tickets to him/her immediately during the check-in process. The staff could also check the client's preference & arrange the better seat for the cusomter.






The customer could login his/her own membership account in internet and check his/her own information. For examples, the record and status of his/her tickets, the mileage gain and on-line check-in, etc. He/She could also views the updated news, comments, feedback and weight the services of the airlines through the account. Nowadays, some airlines had also provide the mobile CRM, so that the customer can book the tickets , check his/her flight, and also the airlines information via mobile.




The CRM system could also helps to analyse the market segment for the company. The marketing department can decide to target in which group of customers. It could reduced direct-marketing cost. By sorting the information of the customer, the company can find out which route will be the most popular and which route gain the most. Then, the company can invest more in those lines. According to the information in CRM system, the sales department could promote more packages to the customer which he/she really interested. For the customer services, they can serve and reply the customer more efficiently by viewing the CRM system.

The CRM system is useful for every customer services industry, even you are you in a small or global business. Here is a interesting video mention about how's the CRM system helps in a "company".

Lecture 4 - Internet Marketing

We learnt the Internet Marketing today. Jenny had provided many reference to us to understand what is internet marketing more clearly. The internet marketing is really useful for nowadays. From Jenny's examples, I like the Cathay Pacific one most. Their website is very informative and very attractive. They had created a page to let the public know more about their people. It's very interesting.

It's our first lab. lesson, Jenny let us to create a website page by using the NVU system. It's my first time to use this system, as I use MS Frontpage at home. We tried to use a table to create a page, divided the page in a different table, it helps to format the page more easily. However, the time is short, so we cannot finalize the whole page during the lesson. I really look forward for the coming lesson & learn more about the NVU.

Also, Jenny had gave us the assignment 2 question already. It's a group project. We have to prepare a written report & website for the assignment. The written report minimum wordings is 2,000. Oh! No ~~ I think I need to coordinate with my team member asap. The 1st thing we have to do is ...... decide which company shall we write. I still thinking of this, hope we can get the final decision soon.

Goodbye My Mum

My mum just passed away on Tuen Ng Festival, causing by cancer. Honestly, I feel very sad about this, but I believed she is now dancing w the lord happily. Hope she will live happily in the heaven & hope she can watching us to live as usual in there.

The only thing I regret is...... she cannot see my graduate in SPACE, now she can only watch this in the heaven.

Goodbye my mum, wish you have a happy life in heaven.

Out of Town

I will travel to Beijing started from Tuen Ng Festival to 1 June. It's my 2nd time to there & everytime I go there alone. I love Beijing so much, maybe coz it's the capital of China. And also, there had many traditional arch. & art design, mixing with the modern. It's a great place to let me know what's happened in China before & let me know about our great country history. I think Beijing is a safety place to let me travel around, every people are very nice, helpful ...

For my mandarin, just so far so good, but already enough to communicate with the Beijing people. I got some ex-colleagues who stay in Beijing, hope will have time to in touch with all of them, coz I really got too much place to go this time. E.g. The Great Wall, the church, 798 Art Area ....

Lecture 3 - CRM System

WE learnt Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) today. It's a very useful system for marketing people, as the system can include all the information which related to the client and we can find out the market segment via the system.

Finally, I grouped for the assignment 2 tonight. I'm in Group 7. It's really a difficult decision to me, as some classmates had study with me for last 4 subjects. We share & work hard together. S0, I really want to do our group project with all of them, but I could only choose 2. No worries!! I believed we could do this close together. Add Oil ~~~

SAP for Small Business (Q1 - Session 2)

What's SAP? How's the SAP helps? Let's watch the video to know more about it.


For the "SAP Business One" system. All departments can exchange/group the information in ONE system. For inventory & operations, the Sales Department and Warehouse could operate the progress of the services via the SAP system smoothly.

Through the SAP system, the sales could review all the relevant information of the client. For example, the previous orders and discount for the client, etc. It helps the sales due with the client more easily, as he/she got the clear background of the client.


When the Sales Department received the order(s) from the customer, they can input the order details in the inventory data. Once they clicked save button, the warehouse will received an albert from SAP system automically.

In the SAP system, the warehouse could see all the client's information, including the client's name, full address of the delivery and the shipment date, etc. Then the warehouse can start to pack up the items as customer required. By clicking the "Pick and Pack Manager" button, the warehouse staff could see the delivery item(s) and proceed the work. They could also print the delivery notes and packing slips through the SAP system. After the stocks had sent out, the SAP system will shown as "closed" in the status column, so that the sales could knew the status of the orders and he/she could serve the client thoughtfully.

The SAP system not only for the small & medium size company, but also for large, multi or global company. It can also been use across several companies too.


SAP is one of the ERP system (Enterprise Resource Planning Systems) provider in the world, others ERP systems including the Function & Oracle. The ERP system is useful for every company, for the large and also for the small & medium business, especially for those with large amount of orders delivery. The system centralized all the information, avoid the mistakes by multi-typing from different departments. It helps to manage the inventory in real time, so that the company can serve the client more efficient and achieve profitable growth. But before adopt it, the company have to think about how's the module matched to their own business, as there are thousand different workflows in each company. ONE set of ERP system could not satisfied for all companies' processes.

Lecture 2 - ERP System

This lecture we learnt the ERP system (Enterprise Resource Planning). It seems very common in the company.

After this lesson, I just knew what I'm using in company is a ERP system. My company system called "PeopleSoft", heard from Jenny, the PeopleSoft and merged with Oarcle already!! Suddenly think ... this lesson is very useful, at least I will know something around me is a quite famous system, instead of just for my company use only.

Tonite, Jenny said we have to do the group project later. I'm so nervous of this, as the group project have to coorperate with other classmate, as we all very busy at work & study, we haven't got too much time to discuss/do the project, really hope the assignment 2 won't be too difficult to us.

Business Supported by I.T. System (Q1 - Session 1)

Wal-Mart is one of the successful department store in the world. The most well-known of their company is the perfect operation system for their supply chain. Their logistics system was function by RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Microchip).

Wal-Mart use the RFID system, to replace the bar code. There's a clip in every stocks. When the stocks run through the scanning machine. The machine will detected which stock is going to leave the warehouse, and there's a electronic arms to distribute the stocks to each cities' order. The cashier will scan the stocks/goods again when the consumer bought the goods in Wal-Mart. Then a signal will send back to the supplier,they could received the signal even they are in China or USA. Then the supplier can estimate how many & when should they supply & get back to Wal-Mart supply chain.

For better internal communication, Wal-Mart provided many electronic instruments for their staff. For example, the radio set and the satellite system for the company driver. The Wal-Mart also provided a very concerned & functional ear phone to the staff who work in warehouse. The ear phone could choose the voice in male or female tone, in English or Spanish, etc. It could also announce the process what the staff working is on schedule or not. And also, the ear phone provided the instruction for how to operate the machines there.


For better services to the consumer, Wal-Mart had create a website for the customer, so that they can enjoy the e-shopping at home. The website already classifed the goods in different field, just click a little button, and you can find all you need. It seems no different between the website and the real supermarket!! Also, you can register as a memebership in different field. For example, if you will get marry soon, you can registered in their "Wedding Regisry".

In their website, they are not only sell the real food and goods, but also provided an investment services for the customer!!

Wal-Mart also issued their own credit card for client , go shopping without concerning the money on hand.



From the Wal-Mart website, the customer could also buy a cash card there, which you can deposit the cash, cheque inside the card in advance, no bank account is required. Then the customer could go shopping without concerning the safety of carrying huge amount of cash.







As the world become more & more updated, and more & more functional system produce. I believed in the near future, when we go shopping in supermarket, the transaction format will like this :

New Semester

It's the first lecutre for this semester today & it started from a interesting subject, Information Technology in Marketing. I knew I.T. had become more & more important in the world, but honestly, I still don't know how to promote the things/items through this channel. Last least I didn't try to upload something to the Youtube yet.

Our teacher is not a Hong Kong people, I think she is from Singapore, of course, didn't ask where's she from finally. The whole lesson have to taught in English. I'm OK for the English teaching class, but seems some classmate cannot, & I saw some had slept during the lesson. Haha ~

The teacher also gave us the 1st Assignment. We have to create a blog as an assignment. It's not difficult task for me, as I wrote blog regularly. Anyway, hope could share somethings with others. I will work hard in this semester and hope I could get high marks.
